I was in Ashland Oregon (an area recently decimated by fire) when smoke from the

Canadian fires overwhelmed New York City.

“Everyone’s so fixated on what it looks like in New York right now but I haven’t

heard anything about what’s going on where the fires actually are,” said a woman in

the natural earth pigment store in Ashland where I was doing some research.

I was lucky to only see either place in pictures but I made a scarf of one and a weaving of the other.
